Divine Rapture

Saturday October 23rd 2010 at 7.30 pm

St Mary's Church, Bishops Lydeard

This concert was very well received and helped to raise over £1000 towards the restoration of St Mary’s Church Tower.

Italian Renaissance and early Baroque choral works by Palestrina, Anerio, Andrea Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Micheli and Vizzana

Come on a musical pilgrimage through Italy in the 16th and 17th centuries. Starting in Rome, with the majestic stile antico resonance of Palestrina’s Missa Aeterna Christi Munera, we end up in Venice and the vivid rhythmic energy of Monteverdi’s Beatus vir, calling along the way at Bologna to enjoy the rare delights of music by Lucrezia Vizzana, one of the most important female composers of the 17th century.
